Why I Founded Ahern Health

I'm Ally Ahern, founder of Ahern Health. My health suddenly crashed while I was in college, and for years I went from specialist to specialist, following every treatment plan I was given, yet I only got sicker. Figuring out what was truly wrong with me became my life's mission. I researched relentlessly, learned to advocate for myself, and refused to accept that symptom management was my only option. During those years, I was diagnosed with a rare heart condition, POTS, MCAS, an autoimmune disease, and experienced a long list of other confusing neurological symptoms. Doctors painted a very bleak picture of my future, telling me I would be chronically ill and likely dependent on others for the rest of my life. But I never let go of the conviction that I would get my health and my life back. Years later, I finally discovered that untreated Lyme disease and babesiosis were at the root of my illness. I also learned I had been living in a mold-contaminated home that was suppressing my immune system and preventing my recovery. Through a root-cause approach that included treatment in Germany, environmental interventions, and natural remedies, I regained my health. Today, I'm in remission, living a highly active life without limitations, and feel better than I did before I became sick.

Shortly after I recovered, my mom was diagnosed with a rare form of late-stage ovarian cancer.  We did not feel confident about what we were being offered for care here in the US, so she chose to pursue treatment in Germany as well. Simultaneously, we believed it was important to understand what may have contributed to her illness and address those factors at the root, including environmental toxins, infections, and other underlying contributors. Today, she has been in remission for two years and is back to playing tennis, gardening, and spending time with loved ones. Our mother-daughter recovery story is the foundation of Ahern Health. We were given our lives back, and I now honor that gift by helping others pursue theirs.
